Southwest Florida Hurricane Emergency Guide  for Home Owners

Food Service Emergency Supply Checklist

  • Drinking water (one gallon per day per person for seven days)
  • Non-perishable food and manual can opener
  • Disposable Plates, cups and cutlery
  • Cooler for food storage (with wheels making it easy to move)
  • Plastic wrap, zip lock bags, and garbage bags
  • Freeze water in jugs or zip lock bags to keep food cold
  • Store foil pouch products or instant foods 

Basic Safety Equipment Checklist

  • NOAA Weather Radio
  • First aid kit and instruction book
  • Landline telephone (does not require electricity or batteries)
  • Battery powered television, radio and clock (with extra batteries)
  • Flashlights or LED flashlights (with extra batteries)
  • Chemical light sticks (to replace candles)
  • Whistle (to signal for help if needed)
